Project - AI for Early Detection and Precision Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes
This project will deliver a national AI-powered platform to detect Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) earlier and personalise prevention strategies for diverse populations. By integrating general practice records, pathology results, and wearable health data, the platform will generate detailed individual risk profiles and tailored intervention plans. Advanced AI algorithms will identify individuals at high risk up to three years before conventional diagnosis, allowing targeted lifestyle, pharmacological, and digital interventions. The system will be embedded into GP workflows and primary care networks, ensuring adoption and impact at scale. Economic modelling will assess cost-effectiveness and inform policy integration, making the platform sustainable and scalable. The project has the potential to shift Australian diabetes care from reactive treatment to proactive prevention, reducing disease incidence and long-term complications.
Call for Partnerships:
We welcome partnerships with universities, health services, primary care networks, technology providers, government agencies, and community health organisations to provide data access, clinical expertise, digital health capacity, and co-funding for large-scale trials.
