ExpertGate is forming a project team to submit a competitive application under the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Stem Cell Therapies Mission. This Targeted Call for Research aims to support world-leading translational stem cell research that delivers innovative, safe, and effective stem cell-based treatments in partnership with patients and carers.

Streams of Research
Stream 1 – Early Stage Clinical Trials (Priority 1.3):
- Pilot studies to design future clinical evaluations
- Phase I/IIa trials of novel stem cell therapies
- Focus on safety and preliminary efficacy
Stream 2 – Sector-Wide Challenges (Priority 3.1):
- Research on ethical and regulatory frameworks
- Ownership and use of cells and products
- Public understanding, trust, and approval processes
- Health economics and evaluation of stem cell therapy adoption
Research Goals
- Stream 1: Generate evidence on safety and efficacy of emerging stem cell treatments
- Stream 2: Improve public trust, policy frameworks, and ethical foundations to support widespread adoption of stem cell therapies

- Only MRFF-eligible organisations can submit (ExpertGate is registered)
- All applications must be submitted via NHMRC's Sapphire platform

We are especially interested in building partnerships with clinicians, researchers, commercialisation experts, and patient advocacy groups.
