ExpertGate is assembling an international, multidisciplinary research team to respond to the NHMRC-GACD 2025 Funding Call, focused on implementation research to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and improve equity in health systems.

Scope and Research Focus
Projects must address implementation strategies to strengthen health systems and improve outcomes related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in one or both of the following contexts:
- LMICs – as classified by the World Bank
- Indigenous communities in Australia – with a focus on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander populations
Eligible research themes may include:
- Strengthening primary care delivery systems
- Culturally embedded models of care
- Addressing social and structural determinants of NCDs
- Integrated digital health interventions
- Workforce capacity building and task shifting
- Health system resilience and policy alignment
Eligibility Requirements
- Activities must take place in one or more LMICs and/or Australian Indigenous communities
- The Chief Investigator A on the NHMRC Sapphire application must also be listed as a Principal or co-Principal Investigator on the GACD Portal submission
- Only NHMRC-approved Administering Institutions can submit applications (ExpertGate is eligible)
- Applicants must follow all requirements outlined in the 2025 NHMRC-GACD Grant Guidelines

- First-Stage Proposal – Submit to the GACD Common Submission Portal
- If Shortlisted – Submit second-stage proposal to the GACD Portal
- Australian Components – Must also be submitted through NHMRC’s Sapphire system

- Indigenous health and community-led models of care
- LMIC-based health research and global health delivery
- Health equity, public policy, and behavioural interventions
- Digital health, data systems, and AI-driven care delivery
- Health economics and system evaluation
