Dr. Abu Noman Mohammad Atahar Ali is currently a Professor of Law at North South University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wollongong, Australia, and has over 21 years of teaching experience at leading universities in Bangladesh.
From May 2020 to September 2022, Professor Noman served as the Proctor of North South University, where he was responsible for addressing the disciplinary issues of more than 25,000 students. He also held the position of Chairman of the Department of Law at the same university. Prior to that, he was the Head of the Law School at the University of Asia Pacific.
To date, Professor Noman has authored twenty-two publications, primarily in North American, European, Australian, and Asian journals. He has presented 16 research papers at prestigious conferences organized by institutions such as Harvard University, the University of North Texas, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Roma Tre University (Italy), the University of Sydney (Australia), the University of Bonn (Germany), the University of Westminster (UK), the Umbra Institute (Italy), the University of Wollongong (Australia), and Tokyo University of Agriculture (Japan), among others. Many reputable food law journals and publications have cited his work.
Beyond academia, Professor Noman is a passionate advocate for living simply and meaningfully. Through his videos and writings on social media, he inspires thousands to embrace joy, gratitude, and inner peace by letting go of hatred, anger, jealousy, greed, and unnecessary complications. A strong believer in peace, he opposes violence and war in all forms and advocates for a world built on respect, empathy, and coexistence. He embraces diverse perspectives across religions, ideologies, and cultures, as long as they uphold human dignity and the well-being of all species on Earth.
Professor Noman's intellectual interests extend beyond law, encompassing astrophysics, philosophy, and history. These interests fuel his curiosity and creative reflections. As a dedicated solo traveler, he has explored many countries, including the USA, the UK, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, India, Thailand, and Japan. He seeks to connect with the world's cultures and landscapes. In 2020, he took up long-distance running and has become a passionate marathoner, participating in several full marathons. He dreams of running in the capital city of every country and completing all major marathons around the globe.
