His career spans continents, industries, and institutions, marking him as a thought leader at the intersection of enterprise, research, and practical innovation.
Alan began his consulting journey after six years with a leading Australian-based supply chain consultancy. In 1998, he founded Middlebank Consulting Group (MCG), which has since grown into a multinational consultancy operating across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the United States. Under his leadership, MCG has delivered tailored logistics and value chain solutions, developed franchise systems, and specialized in 3PL/4PL outsourcing and risk-based inventory strategies.
Throughout his consulting career, Prof. Win has successfully completed over 150 logistics and supply chain projects for leading international companies across a wide range of sectors. His work has taken him to more than a dozen countries including Australia, the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Peru, the UAE, and Pacific Island nations. This global reach is matched by his deep sectoral insight, with expertise spanning pharmaceuticals, hardware, FMCG, hospitality, and franchise development.
Before launching his consultancy, Alan held several senior management positions in global corporations for over 17 years, particularly in the pharmaceutical, hardware, and fast-moving consumer goods sectors. These roles enriched his practical understanding of the industry's operational challenges and informed his future work as a trusted advisor.
He is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a former President of the Institute of Management Consultants of New Zealand, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and ethical leadership in consulting.
Alan has also been instrumental in launching major global brands into new markets, including Yoplait, Pepsi-Cola, Zenith Hardware, and Maxxium—a major joint venture of Jim Beam, Remy-Cointreau, Highland Distillers, and Vin & Sprit—as well as three hospitality franchise companies. His strategic and logistical insights have helped these companies scale effectively across borders.
In addition to his consultancy work, Prof. Win is deeply engaged in education and knowledge transfer. He has been a lecturer at the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS) since 2008 and currently serves as a Professor of Practice at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has also lectured at universities in China, Singapore, and India, sharing his wealth of knowledge with the next generation of supply chain and logistics professionals.
