Amanullah Khan

Hello, I’m Professor Dr. Amanullah, a dedicated expert in agronomy and sustainable agriculture with over 20 years of experience in academia and research. Currently, I serve as a Professor in the Department of Agronomy at the Faculty of Crop Production Sciences, The University of Agriculture Peshawar, Pakistan. My work revolves around addressing agricultural challenges, particularly in environmentally stressful conditions, by focusing on crop production, crop physiology, intercropping systems, biodiversity, and sustainable soil and water management. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege to author and edit more than 29 books and reports and contribute over 350 research papers and book chapters to peer-reviewed journals, with more than 130 of these published in high-impact journals. My research has gained substantial recognition, with over 7,500 citations on Google Scholar. I aim to enhance crop productivity, optimize nutrient management, and promote adaptation to climate change challenges. I've collaborated with prestigious international organizations, including the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where I contributed to critical global initiatives like the Global Soil Partnership. Notable publications I’ve co-authored include "Soil and Pulses: Symbiosis for Life" and "Soil Pollution: A Hidden Reality." I’ve also been part of international projects such as the IPBES assessment on Land Degradation and Restoration and served as a Review Editor for the UN’s IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL). Additionally, I’ve shared my expertise in conferences and workshops across various countries. In my editorial roles, I’ve contributed as editor in Intech Open and impact factor Journals like Frontiers in Plant Science, Scientific Reports, PeerJ and MDPI-Agriculture, and I recently published three textbooks: "Harvesting Success: A Comprehensive Guide to Agronomy Courses" (2024), "Integrated Agriculture: An Approach for Sustainable Agriculture" (2024), and Crop Nutrition: Enhancing Healthy Soils, Food Security, Environmental Sustainability and Advancing SDGs (2025).  I am honored to have received three prestigious Research Productivity Awards from the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST). I also represent Pakistan in the FAO Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soil (ITPS).
