Hi, I am Dr. Saad Hanif, a passionate biotechnologist with expertise in nanotechnology, plant sciences, and academic research. I hold a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and my work focuses on nanoparticle-based stress mitigation in plants. With a blend of research, teaching, and industry experience, I aim to develop sustainable solutions for agriculture and inspire the next generation of scientists.
Academic and Professional Journey
I’ve been fortunate to follow my passion for biotechnology from my Bachelor’s degree through Ph.D., specializing in nanotechnology applications to enhance crop resilience and productivity. My doctoral research focuses on zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) coated with proline and glycine betaine to improve plant growth under stress. During my academic career, I’ve published 15+ peer-reviewed papers, demonstrating how nanofertilizers and nanocomposites can mitigate the effects of environmental stressors on crops.
As a visiting lecturer at Quaid-i-Azam University and AIR University, I’ve had the privilege of teaching future scientists and fostering critical thinking. I’ve also served as a Teaching Assistant, guiding students through challenging biotechnology concepts.
Hands-On Experience and Fieldwork
In addition to academic roles, my professional journey includes valuable industry exposure. I’ve worked with the Directorate of Floriculture, Punjab, learning hands-on about flower production, landscaping, and horticulture techniques. As a Tehsil Team Monitor with the World Health Organization, I monitored polio vaccination campaigns to ensure quality at the grassroots level, gaining insight into public health management. I also contributed to research stations and laboratories, including a role at the Hazara Agriculture and Research Station, focusing on micro-propagation techniques and crop improvement.
My early experiences as a Biotech Intern at the International Islamic University provided a foundation in microbiology, specifically working on the isolation and antibiotic profiling of Salmonella and Escherichia coli. Each opportunity has expanded my practical expertise, enriching my ability to address real-world challenges through science and innovation.

Outside of work, I enjoy photography and various sports, including cricket, volleyball, and badminton. Staying active and connected with nature fuels my creativity. Fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, Hindko, and English, with a working knowledge of Pashto, I thrive in diverse environments and enjoy building meaningful connections.
