Dr. Avitus Leonard is a distinguished leader in technology, leadership, innovation, and education. As the founding president of Dei Institute – Online University (DIOU), one of the world’s fastest-growing online universities, he has made a significant impact on global online education. Under his visionary leadership, DIOU has gained international recognition, including being listed by Times Higher Education (December 2024) and ranked 47th in Tanzania, 1,253rd in Africa, and 18,639th globally in the 2025 AD Scientific Index. Dr. Leonard is a UNESCO IPL Expert, a member of ExpertGate, and a Verified Teacher. He actively contributes to Harvard Business Review Publishing Education and serves on the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council. Additionally, he is an accredited visiting professor at Northwest International University and represents Cambridge International University, Spain, in Tanzania through an International Academic Cooperation Agreement.
